Basic CIT Class

The Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office will be hosting a basic CIT course at the Aurora Public Service Training Facility.

This comprehensive 40 hour course is a rigorous & specialized course for law enforcement & their partners. It is an in depth training that helps participants recognize those in mental health crisis, intellectual/developmental disabilities & substance abuse challenges and provides them the skills to address their specific needs. The course will cover basic mental illness signs, child & adolescent issues, legal issues & a variety of  de-escalation techniques. Participants will be afforded the opportunity to practice their skills in 5 scenario based role plays (both patrol & detentions). Must be successful in 4 scenarios.

To register for this course please contact ACSOCIT@arapahoegov.com. When registering you must include in you email your supervisors contact information and numbers of years in your position. This course will fill on a first come first serve basis and participants must attend all 5 days from 8am to 5pm.
